Introduction and objectives

Medicine is a profession with a strong degree of social responsibility and that often inspires high levels of personal implication at work. Yet it is also known that health professionals are increasingly submitted to all manner of pressure (by service users, by the organisations they work in, from academic sources) that make it difficult to maintain the working conditions necessary to carry out their tasks in a healthy manner.

Furthermore, the feminisation of the medical profession is not a passing phenomenon. The tendency over the past a decade points to women representing over half of all health professionals in the next few years. This reality implies the need for deep reflection and adaptation of both working conditions and policies that reconcile the relationship between personal and working lives.

Objectives:
To continue studying the health status of  health professionals in Catalonia in order to carry out activities focussing on improving prevention and early detection of psychological and addiction related problems, and promotion of healthy habits and lifestyles. One of the principle variables that should be taken into account is that of gender.
