Theme 1: Promoting health and resilience in medical students

Medical students have many risk factors that influence their stress level: first contacts with patients, exams, distance from family and friends… Most lectures offered on this topic were based on conclusions from studies performed among students and resident medical interns from different countries, and the majority recommend urgent changes to university curriculums. They advised the incorporation of content related to emotions and ethics such as doctor-patient relationships, or of skills that go beyond strictly scientific or technical knowledge such as communicational abilities. Psychological support programs for students were also presented, along with studies showing that physical activity is related to improved mental health among students and resident interns.
